Apple unveiled its first foldable phone called Duo, introducing the biggest change in years in the company's flagship product.

The Duo is sized and shaped like a passport, with rounded edges.

When open, it is Apple's thinnest phone. Just 4.6mm when open. Dual OLED display. Apple Pencil supported.

Foldable iPhone Duo Will Start at $2,000, Won't Launch Until at Least October. Final price: It starts at $1,999 and launches on October 23\. Preorders Oct 16\. Storage up to 2TB.

Apple says users will be able to run multiple apps side by side and use an Apple Pencil on the device.

This is the best iPhone ever made. And that is exactly the problem.

### Diminishing Returns on a Phone

2017: new dual camera. Big jump.
2019: two lenses. Same slab.
2021: triple camera. Still slab.
2023: bigger bump. Same look.
2025: same slab. Tiny bump. Same.

The innovation curve is a plateau. Flatline. No major change.

Early iPhones gave us: camera, battery, display, App Store, 4G. Massive user benefit per dollar.

Now we pay more for incremental updates. Users see less benefit per dollar now.

That is classic diminishing returns: More features, price, years go up, user benefit flattens. Paying more for incremental updates. Same design. Smaller gains. Consumers bored. No upgrade needed.

64% of people said they were not interested in buying a foldable next year. Apple knows. The slab cannot surprise us anymore.

### The Shift: From Bigger Phones to Immersive XR

This is why Duo matters, but not as a phone. Duo is a bridge device.

- Foldable phone, the past: folds thin like a passport, dual display, Pencil. Nice, but still a rectangle in your pocket.
- XR AR glasses, the next phase: spatial computing, hand track, virtual desktop, 3D map, contextual overlays.

XR Starts Now:

- Contextual AR overlays real world
- New era beyond the phone screen
- Focus: hands free, immersive, live info
- Shared Experiences, Spatial Apps, Apple XR AR Glasses

Consumers want more innovation. Not a 0.2mm thinner phone for $1,999\.

They want computing that disappears.

Glasses that show directions on the road, not on a screen. Desktops that float in air. Friends as holograms in the living room.

The phone gave us the internet in our hand. XR gives us the internet around us.

Apple nailed the last chapter of phones with Duo. The next chapter is not in your pocket at all. It is on your face.
